If you have every had the chance to fly out the John Wayne airport you know what a real treat it is compared to the hustle and bustle at LAX (Los Angeles Airport). Many have asked about the homes that are within close proximity to the airport and the approximate range for these properties. It's important to note that the city of Newport Beach on boarders the airpot at the very southern point where the 73 freeway runs through. Homes directly adjacent to the airport will be located in the city of Irvine with the most notable neighborhoods of Central Park West that is located near the 405 freeway and Jamboree. These condos are also located within a very short distance to the airport and one of the hottest neighborhoods in Irvine.
The Newport Beach neighborhood that is located directly south of the airport is the Santa Ana Heights neighorhood. This is an interesting area that is filled with smaller residential condos and homes in one section and then huge estate homes located on very large lots in another area. It's not uncommon to see homes in the 5,000 to 7,000 square feet range with real estate prices north of the $3 million dollar price point which is far less than what you would pay in other areas of Newport Beach. One of the reasons for these lower prices is that the neighborhood is a mixture of everything so it's hard to get a cohesive feel to it. There also tends to be more traffic in this area causing the prices to be slightly lower. It is important to note that the John Wayne airport has a very strict flying pattern and anti-noise regulations when taking off. The planes go up very quickly and then almost turn the engine off while the fly over the homes to cut down on the noise. If you have ever flown out of John Wayne you know exactly what I'm talking about.
