Newport Beach Homes Near The Wedge Surf Break

The Wedge is one of the most famous surf breaks in Southern California and is located at the very tip of the Balboa Peninsula. On a calm day it's hard to imagine where this surf break is located as it's located right next to the channel where boats leave the Newport Bay and head out to the Pacific Ocean. When the surf gets big the waves crash right on the beach which gives this a unique feature. Most surf breaks are located further out and crash over reefs located under the sea level. The homes surrounding this area are commonly referred to as the Balboa Peninsula Point area and tend to be some of the most expensive homes on the Peninsula. This is one of the first built neighborhoods in Newport Beach with homes dating back to the early 1900's. Many of these homes still exist which gives this area a lot of charm and personality to it.
It's important to note that this area is a high density area with a lot of homes built close to each other. In addition, this is also a popular tourist spot for vacation renters and can get very busy during the high season summer months. The Wedge is a real attraction for tourists and locals alike when the waves get big and is something that one must see at least once if they live or visit the Orange County area. Real Estate prices for homes in this area will vary depending on the size, location and view. Homes along the perimeter be high end water front homes that sit on the Newport Bay and often comes with large boat docks. There is also beach front homes in this area as well that also command a premium in price.
